Our House
Fri – Per Schedule – we are aware this was a change to the schedule. If you are unable to make it, please ensure Mary knows.
Sun am – Per Schedule – rehearsal finishes at 1.30pm
Sun pm – CHANGE to schedule – now just DANCERS (12 girls & 2 boys) If you are unsure if this includes you, please call Mary
Our House – Commitment
After watching much of the rehearsal on Wednesday, it is clear that the show is suffering due to a lack of commitment from some of you to attending rehearsals. By not attending, it means that things are having to be gone over and over to ensure that everyone remembers what is meant to be happening on stage!
There are just 7 weeks of rehearsals left for this show, and I think that you all need to think about your commitment to the show (One person has already been removed from the show and the company due to their lack of commitment to the show)
I personally can’t believe some of the stories I have been hearing over reasons for absence (went to a party last night / in a band / went to see a band / went to a friends party), and we really need this to STOP!. I do appreciate that some of you have had exams / proms etc over the past few weeks, but these should all now be finished after today, therefore please ensure you attend all rehearsals for which you are called. You will learn as you grow up, that in life you will have to always balance lots of things that you have on the go, and decide which are most important to you. For the next 7 weeks, we ask that this balance is shifted in favour of Starmaker for a change!
From this Sunday, and for the last 7 weeks of rehearsals we are introducing a ZERO absence policy, as it is completely unfair on the production team who give up their time week after week coming to rehearsals only to find a lot of you missing! And this really is the only way we can ensure that the show will be ready for the theatre!
There should now only be two reasons for you to be absent:
1) Absences we were advised of at the AUDITION stage
2) Absences through illness (not injury.. if you are injured, you should still attend, as you can watch and learn).
We will have no hesitation in removing further indivduals from the show if their commitment towards it does not improve greatly.
Drama Showcase
Shirley is away for the next two weeks, so if you are going to be absent, please call MANDY on 0118 9420854
Summer School
Can now be booked through Carol, tickets are also on sale for the summer school show at £6 each.

Hi Everyone
A short update for you all
Starmaker BBQ – Sunday 11th July
It is with great regret, that I have to announce that for the first time ever we are cancelling the Starmaker Summer BBQ due to a distinct lack of interest. Unfortunately even our promise of finishing in plenty of time for you to be home for the world cup final couldn’t tempt the majority of you.
With our deadline for letting the caterers know numbers this Wednesday, and having only sold 16 tickets there really was no other option.
To make the BBQ financially viable, we needed to sell at least 100 tickets (something we have never had a problem doing in the past).
With only 16 having been sold to date, we know that it is not realistic that we would sell at least 84 this Wednesday! (To put it into perspective, by this time last year we had sold over 100, which ended with final numbers at approx 130 through sales on the final night they were available)
To the 16 of you who had purchased your tickets – I thank you for your support. Please see Stuart who will arrange for you to receive a refund if you paid cash, or to have your cheques back if this was your method of payment.
I would personally like to thank Simon Longhurst for all of his hard work in organising this event, that has now all been in vain.

Rehearsal Absences
If you cannot make a rehearsal, please ensure you let the correct PA know in plenty of time:

The only time you should be letting them know you can’t make it on the day of rehearsal is if you are ill. All other things – School events, dance exams / shows / holidays etc will be known about well in advance, so please don’t leave it to the last minute to tell us as it causes havoc with our scheduling.

Here is this weeks update
Starmaker BBQ
Sunday 11th July – Unfortunately we have not yet sold a single ticket, this is a really great, FAMILY Day out by the river in Henley. Tickets are £7.50 per person, which includes all your food, bouncy castle, football tournament etc. Tickets are available from Stuart at EVERY rehearsal (Cheques should be made payable to PFA Social). We do need tickets to be reserved and paid for by the end of June, as we have to finalise the numbers with the caterer.
Chaperones Meeting
Takes place this Sunday at 11am for those of you who can help us out by becoming licensed chaperones. We have very few licensed chaperones (1), amongst the parents of the "younger" group, which means recently at Honk we had to rely on the goodwill of the parents of the "older" group. An organisation like Starmaker can only survive with the goodwill of everyone around us.
Becoming a licensed chaperone doesn’t mean that you will be asked to chaperone any additional rehearsals at the school, just that you will be asked to help out at the theatre during "show week", so please come along tomorrow and attend a really interesting training session, and then apply to your local council to become a chaperone.

Blessed Hugh Faringdon
Every once in a while, the members seem to think it is ok to treat the facilites at the school with somewhat less respect than we might like. We ask that all parents remind their children that the facilities at the school should be respected at all times, and that they are responsible for clearing up their own rubbish. Everyone who helps out at Starmaker is a volunteer, and we should not have to clear up at the end of each session in they way we have had to at the last few rehearsals.
Company Auditions
Will take place on Sunday 11th July (am), with two mandatory pre-audition workshops on Wednesday 30th June, and Wednesday7th July. These auditions are for those aged 14 or over on 31st July 2010. If you know anyone who might be interested in attending, please ask them to register on-line at www.starmakeruk.org, so that I can send them all of the relevant information.
Dancia
Thanks to the 22 of you who participated in Dancia last Sunday, we have had some really good feedback about the performance you gave from Our House.
It was sad that there were only 22 of you however, rather than the 40+ of you who are actually in the cast., it would seem that to some of you belonging to the company doesn’t mean as much as it does to others.
Summer School
Takes place 23rd – 27th August. If you or a brother / sister / friend, do a paper round and can stick some flyers in with your papers, please speak to Carol next Wednesday.
Our House
Sun am – Full cast, music with Anton
Write-ups – if you haven’t yet provided your write-up to Mary, it needs to be with her this weekend.
Schedule – please ensure you keep up to date with the schedule on the website.
School Shirts- We need you to provide white school shirts for the show. Some of you will need to provide 1, and some will need to provide 2 (please make sure they will still fit you in October). Unfortunaltely we will not be able to let you have these back, so we suggest you shop somewhere like Primark or Asda, where hopefully you will be able to pick them up nice and cheaply (unless you already have some that we can have). Please bring these with you to rehearsals THIS coming week.
