Geoff Bamford Memorial Award
The Geoff Bamford Memorial Award for Outstanding Technical Contribution was awarded for the first time in 2007. The award was donated to Starmaker by Joyce Bamford in memory of our great friend and lighting designer Geoff who passed away early in 2007. We are honoured that Joyce has donated this award to the Company, and we all hope it will remind us all of what a great person Geoff was.
The winner of the aware for 2011 is Brett Smith, Brett works tirelessly on our productions as Sound Director he ensures the sound quality of our shows is second to none, so a big thank you goes out to Brett!
The winner of the award in 2010 is Alistair McKay for his sterling work last year on our production of West Side Story, and his general hard work backstage.
The winner of the award in 2009 was Michelle Palin (Quirke), Michelle has been working with Starmaker for 20 years, and has been Deputy Stage Manager on many of our shows (most recently Children of Eden and West Side Story), she has also run the sound desk on many of our shows, and even dabbled with lighting design on some smaller shows a few years ago.
The winner of the award in 2008 was Rebecca Wyard, Rebecca is an ex Acting member of the Company, who decided to go down a more technical route, and has since worked on many shows assisting Geoff with lighting. She also ran our video decks for Tommy, designed the lighting for Once Upon A Time and High School Musical, and most recently was Stage Manager for our Rep Co productions.
The winner of the award in 2007 was Alan Smith, who has been with the Company from the very beginning and has taught many people about the art of Stage Management, and has also been our Technical Director for many years.
