Kate Winslet takes time out to visit Starmaker

Starmaker Patron Kate made an unannounced visit this Wednesday, the current members had no idea that Kate was in the building, and as could be expected Blessed Hugh Faringdon School erupted when the curtains she was hiding behind were pulled back. Oscar winning actress Kate who performed with us in a number of our shows spent time conducting a Q&A with current members, and then took time to visit rehearsals for our forthcoming productions of Boogie Nights and Wizard of Oz and then took part in a drama workshop taking place under the direction of Ben Ashton. A selection of photos are shown below. This is the second video clip more video clips will be posted to the site shortly. For any queries relating to Kate's visit, in the first instance call Michelle Palin on 07976 737587 who will then put you in contact with the relevant person.

Summer School

Running now for over 14 years, our summer schools are renowned for their popularity and success. 5 days training in Dance, Drama, Singing and combat culminating in a performance at Reading's Concert Hall. All of our teachers are "jobbing" professionals in their own who mix performing with teaching, so that they keep their skills up to date. (They're all fully qualified teachers as well)

This years summer school takes place from 24th - 28th August. Click here to complete an application form.

Boys Dance Classes

We often find that when the boys start dancing, the girls are in the corner giggling at how funny they look.Of course the girls have forgotten that they have whilst they may have been dancing since they were 3 or 4, many of the boys will never have had a lesson. For this reason in 2006, we decided to start our Boys Only dance classes, so that the lads can make mistakes without feeling self-conscious. Originally open to members only, these classes have been so popular that we are now opening them up to any boys who are interested. Classes run at Hugh Faringdon School, Fawley Road, Reading on Wednesday evenings from 6.45 - 7.30, and are run by Michelle Legg a fully qualified dance teacher who trained at Birds College and who has been with Starmaker for many years. Not only does Michelle teach for us, but she has also choreographed many shows for us, the most recent being 'High School Musical' in 2007, and 'West Side Story' in 2009. Cost Per Term £45. For the one cost of £45 you can also take a LAMDA class or a Singing Class from 6.00 - 6.45 on a Wednesday. To register your interest click here to go to the right page

Girls Dance Classes (Beginners)

Whilst many girls have been dancing since almost as soon as they could walk, there are equally many girls who did not, and who therefore find it hard to work alongside girls who have been learning for years.Due to the popularity (and success) of our Boys classes, many of our 'non-dancing' girls started asking if we could run classes for them as well. So now on a Wednesday night, as well as running our Boys only dance classes, we are now also running our Girls only beginners dance classes where we will slowly bring them up to a standard that will make them feel much more confident. Classes run at the Hugh Faringdon School, Fawley Road, Reading on Wednesday evenings from 6.00 - 6.45 Classes cost £45 per term. For your £45 per term you can also take either a LAMDA or Singing Class from 6.45 - 7.30 To register your interest click here to go to the right page
